We are raising the FUTURE!!!

Hey SuperMOMs we are in charge! and with that comes major responsibilities.

We, the SuperMOMs everywhere, are responsible for bringing up the next firefighters, doctors, policemen, artists, singers, writers, small business owners, CEOs and (insert job title here). The list is endless. The list is so long that the children might have titles/jobs that we haven’t even dreamed of. I am sure that the moms in the 1800s never thought that there would be something called computer programmers never mind social influencers.

That is why as I write this little article I am hearing a song in my head…

“I believe the children are our future. Teach them well and let them lead the way. Show them all the beauty they possess inside.”

It is our responsibility before they choose their profession, including being parents, that we teach them the important things.

Like:
Saying please and thank you.
Being respectful to their elders.
Tying their shoes.

Cleaning up after themselves.
Helping Mom and Dad.
Showing them they are beautiful.

The list goes on and on.

SuperMOMs, what thing are you doing to raise the future? Whatever it is, it is extraordinary!

STOP MY HEART!!!! WHAT!?!?!?(Continued from issue 12)

Yes, you read that correctly! The doctors wanted to physically stop my heart from beating because all of the “tricks” to slow it down were not working.

So there I was - pregnant.

Recovering from paralysis due to MS which my neurologist said wouldn’t happen because I was pregnant.

My heart rate was over 200 beats a minute while the baby inside me was at the normal 150 beats per minute.

Laying in a hospital bed with doctors, specialists in their field, and nurses in the middle of the night in my room talking to my husband about getting permission to…

STOP MY HEART!

The doctors said they would only stop it for a moment and then restart it. They needed my husband’s permission because HIS baby was inside of me and stopping my heart could cause a problem for the baby. If my heart rate did not come back down to a normal rate, between 65-under 100 beats per minute, it could cause me to have a heart attack or worse.

The doctors explained to us that they would inject something into my IV port that was already in place. This drug would cause my heart to STOP and they would immediately restart my heart with electric pulses through the sticker pads that were already on my body. The major concern at this moment was how the baby’s heart could react to all of this.

Talk about STRESS!!!!!

What number am I up to now?

Oh yeah, keep stress levels low because I am pregnant but…

First, I had the morning sickness which was stressful.

Second, there was all the talk of the world coming to an end due to Y2K.

Third, I was bleeding vaginally.

Fourth, MS made me a paraplegic.

Fifth, my heart rate went above 200 beats per minute.

Sixth, my husband had to be called back to the hospital because the doctors wanted to STOP MY HEART!!!!!

Seventh, my baby could die so we could save my life!

No one said that being a mom would be easy.

All these stresses happened BEFORE the baby came into this world.

I asked the doctor what I was to expect when he puts the meds into the IV. He said that his patients told him that it feels like a big punch in the chest. But he had never experienced it himself. He said don’t worry, we will bring you back right away with your heart beating normally.

We agreed to the procedure.

The doctor was wrong!

It didn’t feel like a punch in the chest. My memory was that it felt like a huge wave, a flush, if you will, came over me beginning from the top of my head all the way down to my feet. Then suddenly I remember waking up and feeling calm and refreshed. My heartbeat returned to normal rhythm.

The baby, what about the baby??!?

The whole time the pediatric doctors and nurses were monitoring the baby through the monitoring strapped to my belly. Baby’s heart stayed steady the whole time at 150 beats per minute. Thank you, God!

I can walk with a walker. My heartbeat is back to normal. Baby is ok.

Can I go home now?

Back to that in the next newsletter…
