“Spring Cleaning & Fresh Starts 🌸”Maria tied her hair up, took a deep breath, and tackled the clutter. Old toys, outgrown clothes, and forgotten trinkets filled donation boxes. As she wiped down windows, sunlight poured in, making everything feel new. Her kids giggled, chasing dust bunnies, turning chores into a game. With every cleared shelf, she felt lighter—physically and emotionally. Spring wasn’t just about cleaning; it was a fresh start, a chance to let go and make space for new memories. | ![]() Fresh Starts 🌸 As she inhaled the crisp, blooming air, she smiled—sometimes, the best refresh isn’t just for the house but for the heart. 💖😊💖 Do you have a Spring Cleaning Ritual or something else that you have memories of? |

Why do I need to take insulin? I don’t have diabetes, do I?…(Continued from issue 17)
I HATE needles!!!!!
I am not afraid of them; I just don’t like them.
I have had to go to the hospital a lot of times in my life and I never liked having to get stuck with those needles.
When the nurse came to my room to give me the hospital release paperwork, she also brought sample insulin needles and an orange!
Have I mentioned that I have unusual allergies?
What number are we up to now?...
Keep stress levels low because I am pregnant but…
First, I had the morning sickness which was stressful.
Second, there was all the talk of the world coming to an end due to Y2K.
Third, I was bleeding vaginally.
Fourth, MS made me a paraplegic.
Fifth, my heart rate went above 200 beats per minute.
Sixth, my husband had to be called back to the hospital because the doctors wanted to STOP MY HEART!!!!!
Seventh, my baby could die so we could save my life!
Eighth, why am I still in the hospital?
Ninth, complications for the baby just to do a test?
Tenth, waiting for the results from that radioactive isotope test!
Eleventh, what’s in the bag?
Twelfth, Oranges and needles?
Have I mentioned that I have unusual allergies?
When the nurse entered my room with a fresh orange my heart jumped but not for the reasons that caused it to go up to 200 beats per minute but because I am allergic to citrus. Being exposed to Oranges, Lemons, Limes and other such fruits causes me to have an allergic reaction.
My reaction is an asthmatic event. That orange was super fresh and I could smell it as soon as she entered the room. I immediately began to Wease as she approached me.
Once she saw what was happening and my husband saw what was in her hand, he told her to remove the innocent fruit from the room so that he could finally bring me home.
Oh good, another event to keep me from going home was averted! Stress eliminated.
Now, back to the needles. She showed me the needles. They were a 27-size gauge needle.
The higher the gauge size is the smaller the needle length. For example, a 27-gauge needle is ½ inch/12.7 mm in length while a 29-gauge needle is a ¼ inch/6mm length.
I was to inject myself with this needle subcutaneously in my thigh or my butt or my triceps but not my belly when my blood sugar levels were not what they needed to be.
Subcutaneous means to just pinch your skin and insert the needle.
Seems easy enough but what if I get nervous or my hand jerks, then what?
Why do I have to inject myself anyway? I don’t have diabetes, just MS, Right?
Back to that in the next newsletter…
