Magic in the Little Things Every night, Emily sat at the edge of her daughter’s bed, book in hand, voice soft and warm. The day’s chaos melted into quiet as she read about dragons, brave girls, and starlit skies. Earlier that afternoon, she'd kissed a scraped knee after a tumble in the backyard, whispering, “You’re okay, my brave girl.” Her daughter beamed through the tears—healing instantly under her mama’s touch. Emily often wondered if she was doing enough. But in these moments—the giggles between chapters, the comfort of a bandage, the safety of her arms—she realized something powerful. It wasn’t the big vacations or fancy toys that made childhood magical. It was this. The bedtime stories, the soothing kisses, the feeling of being completely and unconditionally loved. | ![]() SuperMOM Magic Emily smiled, tucking her daughter in. Magic wasn’t something you bought or planned. It was something you made—one small, loving moment at a time. When has “magic and wonder” shown up in your life? 🌙📚💖 |

Mom is disabled, doesn’t mean baby is going to be, or does it?…(Continued from issue 22)
I held that placard in my hand. You know the one you see hanging from the rearview mirror in those cars parked in the parking spots closest to the entrances of buildings.
I have had this with me since my dad got it for me when I became paralyzed at 16 years old, but now I can’t hide it anymore. I have to use the “tools” to get around. I have to use the “tools” to make sure I didn’t injure myself or my baby inside of me.
I couldn’t hide it anymore because I had to use a wheelchair when I wanted to go shopping. I had to be driven because I didn’t trust my legs to work the pedals of my car. Luckily my mom was available to be my driver.
I love my mom. She is THE SUPER MOM in my eyes!
But I am a grown woman that graduated college, got married, bought a house before turning 23 years old and now I am pregnant.
Yet I still had to call my mom for help.
So what stress am I up too now?
Keep stress levels low because I am pregnant but…
First, I had the morning sickness which was stressful.
Second, there was all the talk of the world coming to an end due to Y2K.
Third, I was bleeding vaginally.
Fourth, MS made me a paraplegic.
Fifth, my heart rate went above 200 beats per minute.
Sixth, my husband had to be called back to the hospital because the doctors wanted to STOP MY HEART!!!!!
Seventh, my baby could die so we could save my life!
Eighth, why am I still in the hospital?
Ninth, complications for the baby just to do a test?
Tenth, waiting for the results from that radioactive isotope test!
Eleventh, what’s in the bag?
Twelfth, Oranges and needles?
Thirteenth, Do I have diabetes too?
Fourteenth, MS confirmed?
Fifteen, MS confirmed!!! How?
Sixteen, Call Mom to help?
I am the oldest of 4 children, but when my mom heard that her firstborn was pregnant with her first grandbaby and needed help, you know that she was there in the blink of an eye.
Mom stayed with us to assist us in preparation for the baby that was coming.
My mom was always there by my side when I was going through all the medical tests throughout my life. So when the question on my mind about how this could be happening and how could this be affecting my baby within me, She was there. She didn’t have the answers, but she had that “Mommy Magic” on hand that made me feel safe.
She was a great help with the house duties and getting things for me that I couldn’t easily get, but she couldn’t give me the answers I wanted about the baby inside me.
Instead, the doctors required me to get ultrasounds to keep track of the baby growing inside, and grandma was so happy to take me.
There I was back in my home, sleeping in my bed at least 10 pounds(4.5 kg) lighter due to having to limit my calorie intake and taking insulin shots.
How is THIS going to affect my baby?
Back to that in the next newsletter…
